ღ baby hairs and afros

Over the next few months I’ll be featuring different naturals on DiaryofaMaverick. I will be asking them about their hair journey, routine and why they love their natural hair, with the aim to inspire black women to embrace those kinks and to encourage them to wear their hair in their natural state (at least occasionally). I realise that a large percentage of us are now natural, however I don’t often see many females actually wearing that fro out on a regular basis.

I think it’s come to the point when we’re using the term ‘protective styling’ as an excuse not to embrace our own hair and beauty. This 24/7 protective styling means they don’t actually learn to embrace, style and get to know their own hair.

My aims are to show how beautiful natural hair is and to show that it can be professional and special (we often feel the need straighten it or get a weave for a special occasion).
